Gerdjan started his professional career in 1990. Before that he studied photography at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam and worked some years as a photography assistant. In 2004 and 2006 his work was selected for Luerzers Archive publication "200 best ad photographers worldwide". In Japan the magazine "Commercial Photo" published an overview of his work and Hideki Nakagima selected his work for a publication in the magazine "CUT". Gerdjan's clients list includes: ABN Amro, Amnesty International, Audi T-Mobile, Deutsche Bank, Fiat, McDonalds, Opel, Philips, Rabobank, Samsung, Shell, Swatch, Unilever and Volkswagen. His work won several prizes at the Eurobest and Epica festivals and got honored by the Art Directors Club Netherlands and PANL. In 2008 the campaign for the Uitmarkt was nominated for the Photography Award by the Art Directors Club Netherlands. Wince 2009 he is Member of the board PANL.
